HIV TEST/ AIDS? 10 POINTS!! read!!?

say for ex. if i take an hiv test and the result is negative for hiv, i could still have aids right? because hiv and aids are different, not sure if an hiv test detects aids or only hiv, state your knowledge, 10 points!!

HIV tests detect HIV. You cannot have AIDS without having the HIV virus. But if you contracted HIV recently, it can take a few weeks to show up in a test, so you could test now, get a negative and then show positive in a few weeks. But, no, you cannot get AIDS without first having HIV.

NO! Once you have a positive HIV test, other blood test will be taken to see how much virus is in your system and how many t-cells(the cells that the virus attacks and mutates) your body has. Your are considered to have AIDS once meds no longer help and you have a high viral load and a low t-cell count. AIDS is advanced end stage HIV. So all thought they are "different" they are one in the same.

So I guess the simple anwser is NO, you have to HIV first for it to advance to AIDS. No HIV, no AIDS.

the evolution of HIV to AIDS is a one way street...you contract the virus and it slowly turns to AIDS... but even with a negative HIV result...you could still have HIV...

if you are sexually active make sure to have HIV tests done every 6 months to make sure you dont contract it. also keep up to date on other STD tests and use protection!

HIV could take 6 months to a few years to show.

HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. Human immunodeficiency Virus. It attacks the immune system, and when it gets to a certain point, you are said to have "full blown AIDS". Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. And no your test would not be neg. for HIV and positive for AIDS. You would contract HIV first, to later develop into AIDS.

Hiv is the disease that you get first and you can have no symptoms. AIDS is the disease process of Hiv. So in other words, you have to contract HIV first and then down the road it will turn into AIDS once you start having symptoms. So I would recommend going to a clinic and getting tested and if you are HIV positive it would be good to get some counseling on how to deal with the disease. Hope this helps!

AIDS is a complex that resluts from an infection with HIV1 or HIV2. If you are negative for HIV1 or HIV2 you will not develop AIDS. You cannot get AIDS if you were never infected with the HIV virus. There is a window period. The "window period" is the time it takes for a person who has been infected with HIV to react to the virus by creating HIV antibodies. During the window period, people infected with HIV have no antibodies in their blood that can be detected by an HIV test, even though the person may already have high HIV levels in their body.

HIV causes AIDS so if you come up negative for HIV then no you would not have AIDS. As far as the test, I think they check for HIV because the results can show up right away. Hope that helps...
