Can an HIV test confuse HIV with the common cold virus? |
I've never had an HIV test, and thought about getting one- Ive been safe, but a couple X girfreinds might have had a wild past . There is a local clinic that does an HIV test, and has the results in an hour. How accurate are these tests? Also, I jut got over a winter cold- should I wait until the cold fades before taking test? Otherwise couldnt the cold virus be mistaken for the HIV virus? Sorry if my question is stupid,Im just curious No chance of mixing the two up. no. it is a very specific test and will not cofuse the two. it will not confuse the two. good luck. no.. those two things are separate viruses.. either you have HIV or the cold. or HIV and the Cold... no, the antibodies for the cold virus and HIV are very different from one another. I actually thought the same thing when I was differed from donating plasma, I had just gotten over my third time having strep throught, and I asked at the testing clinic if that could have been the reason, thay said NO! So anyway I found out that I have HIV but they told me that the test is for specific antibodies associated with HIV. |
