how accurrate is an hiv antibody test performed 6 months after exposure? i had a negative antibody test but experienced every single symptom associated with the disease. is 6 months good, or should i wait longer? any data on statistics?? I'm not sure of exact statistics, but I have always heard that 6 months to 8 months should be sufficient time to get tested after exposure. You should go to a doctor and make sure there isn't something else causing your symptoms, since HIV associated symptoms can also be seen with other conditions. I wish you the best, and if you get tested again (and you should, for your own sake) i hope it is negative just like your first test. and if it is negative, i want to stress to you BE MORE CAREFUL. Once you get HIV or AIDS, you've got it for life. once you have been exposed to HIV testing is neccesary every 6 months. You can have a negative at 6 months and then 6 months later it can be positive |
