Why do American's Circumsize?

it is a pointless mutilation of a baby's body. besides religious reasons, why would anyone cut a baby's penis?

Before you say "it prevents transmission of STDs" think about that for a minute. how did they reach this conclusion? did they really find a group of men who would willing sleep with someone who was infected with these diseases, just to see who would get HIV and who wouldnt?

their data is flawed, as being discriminate about your sexual partners is the only way to prevent STDs.

so what is the real reason?

Because they are uneducated on why it shouldn't be done. Most women do not even know the facts about this before denying their sons of a birth right.

Where i come from circumcision is a big NO...We wouldn't circumcise our girls so why the hell would we do our boys?
For those that don't know, most women circumcision is just a snip of the clitoral hood of the vagina...Which is illegal...it should be illegal for boys also.

You are right, it doesn't have any links to prevent STD's and all that crap...
Recent research has shown that the foreskin has Langerhans cells, which have known antibacterial and antiviral properties. This explains why circumcised males have a much higher rate of HIV than intact males.

In the USA, at the height of the HIV epidemic, 80% of males were circumcised, and the USA had a much higher rate of infection than any of the countries in Europe, Scandinavia, South America and Asia, where circumcision is very rarely done.

So....it is totally upto a mother to do whatever she wants with her sons penis. But i wish people would get it done for better reasons rather than liking the look of it.

Its just a big money making scam, and i consider it plastic surgery.

Well, the only way to prevent STDs is to be extremely safe. And even then, there are no absolutes except abstinance.

We had our son circumsized because we're religious. Also, we had him circumsized because it's cleaner. I don't trust a boy to really keep his penis clean on his own. Also, I've heard of men who've had trouble and have had to be circumsized later in life. Men/boys who are circumsized do have fewer urinary tract infections. An infectious disease doctor told me that once when my son was sick. He asked if he was circumsized, I said "yes" and he said "good."

The circumscision didn't take long to do. My husband and I held his hands. He was numb and it healed within a few days.

It's not mutilation I'm sorry. Circumcision takes one minute and it only involves cutting hanging skin, which is attached to the penis from only one side while the other side is loose. Yes it is practiced for religious reasons or because it's much esier to clean after peing. Most guys don't even clean themselves after peing and how many uncircumcised men even take the time to pull the skin and clean the area when they take a shower? If circumcision is mutilition than what about having pierced ears for girls, isn't it holes in the body if I follow ur theory ?

It is NOT hanging.. at birth a boy's foreskin is attached to his penis the way your fingernail is attached to your finger. It does not retract for years. They actually have to rip apart and pry the skin off the penis because it is all attached at birth..

Honestly.. I think Americans do it cause they think uncircumcised penis' are 'icky'.. I personally think circ-ed penis' look weird and boyish... but when it comes down to it ... Americans often don't even consider not doing it.. it's just thought of as standard to a lot of people. I know my sister had sons and never considered it... just got it done. People are desensitized to it.. like in parts of Africa girls are circumcised and people here in America think that is just sooo wrong and messed up... but they don't realize most of the world looks at us that way for male circumcision.... ....

Circ is unneccesary. YES it is mutilation... And I think it should be illegal! That's the way God made little boys, I don't think he meant for us to RIP the foreskin from the penis then just chop off part of it! People are just un-educated.... Naive...

Circumcision first started because it was a way of PUNISHING little boys for masterbating. So have fun with the lube, sry your mommas chopped ya without your permission:(

There isn't a real medical reason from birth. If later on they get an incurable infection on their foreskin then their is a medical reason but that is the only medical reason. Also to the person saying they don't trust a boy to clean their penis how thick do you think people are?

Hygiene was our reason. My boys have suffered no ill effects from it and honestly have no idea that they weren't born that way. I don't see it as mutilation. Cutting the whole thing off would be mutilation. You may step down from your soap box now.

I'd rather be at the beach said it all,We circumcised our son because it is cleaner,my hubby is also circumcised and I feel that an uncircumcised penis is disgusting.

uncirc guys are gross, they have all that skin that makes me PUKE, awful, that why would i never do an european or latino, because they dont circ, i want to see a cute penis not a gross ugly penis!!
