Jodi Jacobson, director of the Center for Health and Gender Equity, said that condom procurement, distribution and social marketing have been "shifted and redirected" from the general population to so-called "high-risk populations" and HIV/AIDS prevention programs are sending "inconsistent messages."

The scary part is is that our teenagers are the ones who know less and less about sex. It is fine to teach abstinence, but it is should be taught in concordance to sex education. A healthy sex life is not necessarily a bad thing, but we should be teaching people how to protect themselves and arm themselves. It isn't realistic to expect abstinence in today's society. We can't ignore the problem.

People that don't have sex don't contract or transmit AIDS. Those that use prophylactic can still transmit and contract AIDS. Which methods sounds like a sure thing?

The responsibility for NOT catching Aids lies with people who are having Unsafe Sex, not George Bush. Give me a news story that says where Bush is forcing people to sleep with people with Aids, then I will agree with you.

I wish people could have some moral accountability or self control, instead of supplying tools to keep up their destructive behavior, but sadly abstinence (though it sounds great in theory) doesn't seem to be realistic. However, how exactly is this GW's fault? This administration has given more money towards AIDS worldwide than the Clinton administration and I don't exactly remember the money given for condoms in those years stemming the rise in HIV/AIDS. I have doubts that anything will change with the next admin whether Dem or Rep.

Now that we have that cleared up as to what abstinence is, I have a question for you: How can not having sex, aside from other sharing of bodily fluids (e.g., blood transfusions) result in the spreading of HIV/AIDS? Now, let's please note that I am not advocating it. But, you cannot say that not having sex spreads AIDS. That's sheer fallacy!

Do not promote either. Save our tax money and give it back to us.
