HIV question again, will you help? |
i got another question, sorry i think there might be afew more ..........so, what precaution measures have to be taken to avoid transmission? Universal precautions - do not come in contact with body fluids including semen, blood, saliva, vaginal fluid. (There is no evidence that sweat will transmit the disease). first of all...never have unprotected sex unless youa nd your partner have both been tested and found to be negative of carrying the hiv virus. dont share needles too...thats a no brainer. Nothing is 100% but abstinence. Condoms leak, rip, tear and spill. surgeons need to wear shields over their faces to make sure blood doesnt get in their eyes , nose or mouth during surgery on an infected person, always wear condoms during sex, oral sex too, never use anyone elses needles if you are into drugs, dont reach into pockets and back packs when you are checking for drugs or something of the sort, pour the contents out, just incase there is a bare needle in there. use an oral impliment to give mouth to mouth if you are an emt, never put your mouth on someone elses if you dont know if they are infected or not, try to avoid getting cut , if you touch an infected patient with any open sores wear surgical gloves and a mask to cover your mouth. wash well and often. Check out wikipedia and the CDC fact sheet htat I sent in my previous answer. Rubber gloves, face masks, and goggles/glasses should be worn by anyone caring for someone else. Even if they do not know if the other person is HIV+, it's a necessary precaution. Also, all medical waste (anything with blood or other bodily fluids) should be disposed of in the proper containers and in red bags, as this is a widely recognized symbol for medical waste. I have been hiv+ for 13 years and my doc dose not usre precautions of any, i asked her why not? she said that the risk was not there that she cleans her hands after everyone and there was no need to worry. I am doing better now then i did 13 years ago so i am sure she knows what she is talking about. Get first hand informations by visiting the following website: |
