Confused about oral sex and transmission?

Latey on the dating scene I have hear and read oral sex is safer, and very low risk of HIV or AIDS, I even heard there are no reported cases of HIV from oral sex, I am confused, my doctor said "There is very very little risk, but it may be possible" then I read saliva kills all possible chances. Anyone have a real answer that that can clear this up?

Oral sex is considered an extremely low risk activity, in general an with HIV in particular. HIV virus is found in saliva but in such small amounts that it is not a factor. HIV virus is found in blood, vaginal secretions and penile secretions, in regards to sexual activity. And, one of those fluids would have to come into contact with the other person's blood or genital secretions. So, with oral sex both partner would have to have some blood present in their mouth and a pathway such as a cut or sore in the mouth for the virus to enter into the bloodstream.
Ways to make oral sex safer sex include:
1. A barrier Method---Using dental dams, condoms, or cutting a condom length-wise to make a homemade dental dam.
2. Don't receive oral sex from a partner with any sores, bumps or cuts in their mouth, lips, oral area.
3. Don't perform oral sex on your partner if you have any oral cuts, sores or bumps.
4. Don't brush or floss your teeth for several hours before and several hours after oral sex.

It may be a low risk, but why risk it at all, your playing with your life here. Stick to safe sex and then you know your safe.
