Condoms should be permitted on campus
While the university鈥檚 religious convictions are commendable, a general concern for the safety of the student body should and must be the primary concern. Next, health experts are making sure they reach colleges around the country, to promote safer sex by handing out condoms. Religious universities such as Pope Paul V1, Fairfield, are also promoting is abstinence, and the availability of condoms on campus. Since, in 1968, the world was blissfully ignorant of a retrovirus that would eventually ravish the world, taking over 25 million lives with it. That retrovirus is, of course, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, or HIV. By the end of 2007, there will be 1.4 million adults and children living with AIDS/STDS and 18,000 deaths will be reported due to not practicing safer sex.
Nevertheless, the best solution is to promote abstinence, but present condoms as an option, but not one that accessible on campus. Not everyone is going to practice abstinence. At least this way safety is still promoted. Therefore, if you are not capable of ensuring that your sexual activities are done in the safest way possible, then it is safe to say that they have no business indulging in them.
