If you read any of the links provided, or if you ever look into any literature from any government/medical organization, you will see abstainance is always mentioned *first* and as the only 100% effective way to prevent HIV.

How many adult Catholics your age do you know have obstained 100% from premarital/extra-marital sex? Is this a sin that *deserves* to be punished with HIV?

What about a faithful wife whose husband strays: the husband picks up HIV from a prostitute and then infects his wife and subsequent children? Happens often in Africa. Shouldn't the wife be protected? If the husband used a condom with the prostitute, there would be an 80% less chance that the wife and kids had AIDS.

Why do people never bring abstinence into the equation. Sex is meant to be open to creating human life. If you barricade off the holy of holies lets say (the womb) then all that is left is lust.

This type of speech is what they started against the Jewish people with their propaganda about why the Jews were a danger to the society. Is this what is being pushed here? They want to make Catholics and especially the Pope public enemy number 1 by branding us being sinners against humanity? The sinners against humanity are the ones who call good evil and evil good. They are the ones that say homosexuality is normal. They are the ones that say if you are an elderly person who is ill you should kill yourself because you are a drain on society. They are the ones who make the human God and ignore the real God.

Condom use mutilates the marriage act that's why Holy Mother Church opposes it.

Your own figure of only 80% effectiveness seems to confirm that condoms do not prevent the transmission of HIV. At best they only limit it in some cases. With those odds I certainly wouldn't take the risk.

If the Vatican is right, I will stop wearing gloves (universal precautions) in my medical practice. Let's see how well that goes over.
