Can hiv be washed off?

say if there was hiv on your pants then it is thrown into the washing mashine. can it be washed off. Or if not can it be at least diluted to a stage of no possible transmission?

I want professional answers. If you are a docter mention that you are coz im really worried!

I am a nurse and I have worked at a clinic where I saw, counseled and treated people with STDs, I have cared for HIV and AIDS patients too (although not many). I was more careful around their body fluids than I would be normally but I'm not afraid to touch them, hug them, breathe air they have breathed, touch things they have touched. HIV does not jump off someone and onto inanimate objects waiting for you to walk by so it can jump on you.

I have seen a few of your questions before so I looked at your list and now I'm concerned about you. Why the obsession with HIV and the really ridiculous scenarios you are inventing in which you might contract HIV?

You cannot live your life in fear of getting a hair cut, going ice skating and walking barefoot. You said in a question your friends are 13, does that mean you are also 13? If so, you are way to young to be worrying about crap like this.

I cared for a pregnant woman who had HIV, her baby was born and tested negative. I know several nurses who have have been poked by needles, one was an HIV+ patient, one was sprayed in the eye with HIV+ infected blood. A friend of a friend at work (ok this is reaching) had a wife who died of AIDS, he has tested negative all these years (they used condoms). In most cases, the person was treated with antiviral drugs prophylactically, but in some cases (the husband) he just didn't get it.

Now if all those people are negative, don't you think it would be pretty unlikely for you to "maybe" have a sore on your foot and "possibly" rub up against a rock that "had potentially" touched the blood of someone who "probably" had HIV?

If you are sexually active, use condoms and get tested every six months. If you are NOT sexually active, NOT an IV drug user, a hemophiliac or person who spends a lot of time getting blood drawn or poked with needles - then - don't worry.

I have hiv and I believe it is washed away with soap and water.

As far as is known, the HIV virus can't survive outside the body so you don't need to worry about catching it from a toilet seat or clothing etc. The virus is well dead, even if it is present, long before you wash the clothing!

HIV is very delicate, and can't live outside of a host for more than an hour or so. I am a nurse.

I'm a nursing student about to graduate, so I have learned alot about this subject.
HIV is a very sensitive virus.. Once in the air for a couple minutes it dies. It is no longer lethal to anyone. If there is drop of HIV infected blood on the counter, after about a minute or so, the virus dies. You do not have to worry about any of this. You cannot catch it from kissing either. You need to have direct contact with it, while it is fresh. If you do not have an open wound, or if it doesn't come in contact with a mucous membrane, you will not be able to contract it.

HIV can't survive outside the body for very long--it's about 20 minutes or so. So, you're fine. I've answered your questions about HIV before, I agree with the nurse above, you shouldn't be worrying so much. You'll be fine. The scenarios that you describe are not ones in which you could get HIV. Unless you go out and have unprotected sex, or share needles with someone, you'll be fine. For your sake, stop worrying so much!!! Good luck.

u realy need education about hiv and every body that dont know about hiv because read make us more safe ...u dont need to do more about this case it safe after a cuple of hours
