What percentage of gay men are HIV+ in America? What is the lifespan of gay men in the USA?

I'm a gay man myself, so don't accuse me of being homophobic.
I'm doing research here in Australia on global HIV transmission rates among gay men...

A negative 'image' of anybody, regardless of their minority 'status' is not a judgement, just a representation. if a 'negative' view is actual based in fact, it is not a 'stereotype' because it is true.

In asking this question I search for FACT - a set of STATISTICS - numbers. In no way did I ask for anybody to give me their opinion. Answering this question requires you to give me a NUMBER. NO WORDS ARE NECESSARY IN ANSWERING THIS QUESTION!!!

It's not even possible to get an accurate count of how many gay men there are in America, let alone what proportion of them are HIV+ or what their average lifespan may be. Therefore, there is no way to answer your question with any accuracy.

According to this, 47% of all people diagnosed with AIDS were probably infected through male-to-male contact. This certainly does not mean that 47% of gay men have HIV.

Perhaps you should check out a place dealing with such statistics like the CDC......



BTW being a member of a minority does not make you immune from presenting negative images about that minority.
Gays can be homophobes, blacks can be racist, women can be misogynistic....


47%?? That's a complete lie.

I would think that question would be impossible to have an accurate answer given . For one, we would never be able to determine how many men are actually gay. You must understand that there are a lot of guys "in the closet" or who will never admit to being gay, so how would you ever be able to include them in studies. Secondly, many people (not just gay men) are infected with HIV and are not even aware of it. And to answer your last question, the lifespan of a gay man in the USA is the same as a straight man as long as they do not contract fatal diseases such as HIV.

Check with the CDC on these stats.

That 47% answer above seems way to high to me.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), "At the end of 2005, an estimated 476,095 persons were living with HIV/AIDS in
the 33 states with confidential name-based HIV infection reporting since 2001."

The CDC does not seem to publish data by sexual orientation except by whether or not it was likely transmitted via male-to-male sex.

"Of the estimated 342,148 male adults and
adolescents living with HIV/AIDS, 61% had
been exposed through male-to-male sexual
contact, 18% had been exposed through injection
drug use, 13% had been exposed through highrisk
heterosexual contact, and 7% had been
exposed through both male-to-male sexual
contact and injection drug use."

In America 47% Gay men are infected with HIV.But Government takes care of it by offering a free testing,medication and insurance.

HIV is wiping generations in Africa. The whole villages wiped out. Yes, its a curse of God. Anything that goes against nature is a sin. Sex is to be between a married man and a woman for the purpose of procreation only. Any other sex is a big character flaw.
