Why is the risk of semen-to-mouth transmission less than semen-to-vagina?

Risk of HIV transmission from semen to vagina is supposed to be because of vaginal mucus membrane absorbing the virus. Mouth surface is also mucus membrane. So why risk of semen-to-mouth transmission is less than semen-to-vagina?

OK, ignoring the overly-emotional responses that some people have had to this question, it actually IS true that semen-to-mouth sex carries less of a risk of HIV transmission than semen-to-vagina. One caveat, though:

The risk is NOT zero. Oral sex DOES carry a risk. Smaller, but a risk.

Why? No one has 100% figured out. However, it is postulated that the digestive enzymes present in the saliva do a number on the HIV virus and are able to knock out a fair amount of the infectious little buggers. The vaginal secretions don't contain these enzymes.

So, no, our youth are NOT being lied to.

I have never heard of that, but maybe I'm just overly cautious. Maybe you should look up some stuff on the internet. I would do it for you, but I dont' have enough time tonight, sorry. Be careful.

There are great risks involved in oral sex! Our youth are being lied to about this issue. The only risk elimenated is the risk of getting pregnant. All other STD's can be caught with oral sex. PLUS A LOT OF OTHER GROSS PROBLEMS. Get the facts. NEVER think of oral sex as "safe sex"
