Why has the gay community become complacent about HIV transmission? Why is HIV for gay men on the rise again?

I don't think that men of my generation..that partied just pre aids has or ever will become complacent about HIV transmission..We lived through the horrors of the early days of AIDS. The younger generation now seems to misunderstand the limits of what the medical community can do if they do become infected..some seem to think that it can be controlled...they completely ignore the awful side effects of the drugs..good question.

The ones who had AIDS in the beginning of all this have mostly gone on now.

There are some rumors out there now about being able to live for a lot of years with HIV because of the new drugs and treatments.

I am not seeing much of a campaign to promote safe sex, or to tell the facts of transmission. The only AIDS I am hearing about in the news these days is the children of Africa.

If it's not on the front burner, people think the problem has been handled. Time to launch an education campaign again.

not only between gays, Aids happens usually between homo community.
As u r talking abo,t gays,so for gays having sex,we call it bottom and top.usually they get infection while doing wat we called sex.coz u should imagine how they have sex....
and they love oral sex also,and they love wild sex.so all these make it easy to transmit HIV...

I'd like to know where you get your mis-information? The only groups who seem to be complacent about HIV are the prejudice christian straights who think its a "curse from god to punish homosexuals". And the largest group who are infected in the US are straight females who got it from their straight male partners. Go preach your hate and intolerance in religion/spirituality where the bigoted fundies will appreciate it. As a straight, southern man I am disgusted by the ignorance and prejudice spread by morons like you.

Erm..... Think you got your fact wrong there buddy. The most recent statistics show that while HIV in the gay community is not rising, it is rapidly on the increase in heterosexuals and drug users but the increase is bigger in heterosexuals. This has been predominantly put down to their lack of regard for safe sex and high consumption of alcohol whilst on holiday!

Research has also shown that the group most conscious about having safe sex is young gay men.

You might wanna go back to the drawing board on that question!
