Fever 1793, Chapters 13-18...?

At the time this book takes place no one really knew the true cause of the yellow fever epidemic. What are some of the possible causes suggested by various towns people and doctors? What are treatments/solutions used in the story? Does yellow fever exist today? how does it compare to other diseases such as HIV or hepatitis?

Please help me, I have no idea.
Yes, I read it.

1. The possible causes suggested by doctors at the time were the mosquitos near the river/water, they also thought that if you didn't believe in God he sent the fever down to make you realize that he existed.

2. Treatments and solutions that are used in the story are bleeding people, giving people clean shifts, having them drink tea, and tying yellow cloths to doors so that nobody will go in their houses.

3. Yellow fever does exist today, but not in the USA. There is a vaccine for it which people who were born in hospitals receive.

4. It compares to diseases such as HIV and hepatitis, because they can both be transmitted through saliva, blood, and sex.
