Okay, got a question about the media and the swine flu...? |
What do all of you think about the way the media is treating this? I read online that it's responding to drugs like Tamiflu and one other drug, can't remember which. And then on Wolf Blitzer all they say about treatment is "it's not responding to some antiviral medications." BUT they don't mention that it IS responding well to two others. Doesn't it seem like the media is deliberately holding back encouraging news and only giving us the scary stuff? I'm sure this isn't news to most people, but I think it's immoral of them to use our fears against us, and I'd never seen it done so blatantly before. But I guess they probably did the same thing with HIV, SARS, etc., but I'm just too young to remember it. So what do you think? The media is biased. The person writing the story, has beliefs and opinions of their own and they write with that influence. The news has long focused on tragedy, people watch that more than other stories. It's a bigger than life world, and what we watch guides what they print or report. They just want to create news and make it as scary and exciting as possible. It is their trade......so just ignore and know what we need to know from news around the world. |
