this all depends. It could be years BUT she needs to stop drinking and get on meds to briing that level to 0%

There are two stages to cirrhosis; compensating and decompensating. It sounds like your mom is decompensating if she is accumulating fluid in the abdomal cavity. This is called ascites. If this is what your mom has, she will have to cut out sodium in her diet, as sodium makes the ascites worse. They will try to treat it with diuretics like lasix (not sure if it's called lasix in the UK). If the fluid doesn't decrease with the medication then she will have to have it "tapped". That means to drain it through a tube (parecentesis). If too much fluid accumulates, then it may be hard to breathe. Tapping the fluid will make her more comfortable. She will need to follow a low sodium diet to prevent the fluid from recurring.
If the cirrhosis is compensating, then one can live quite awhile with it. When decompensation begins, that is a signal the liver is failing. How much time one has depends on a lot of things. Abstaining from drinking alcohol is an absolute must. Being very careful with diet & medication will also help. Most people who are decompensating will need to be evaluated for a transplant. I know of many people who have been through the transplant process and are doing fantastic.
You said your mom is on treatment. Is that treatment for the hep c or treatment for the fluid? If she is on treatment for Hep C, the interferon may help to slow down further damage.
As for walking, Hep C makes you very tired. She should get some kind of exercise, but she shouldn't overdo it, especially if she is on the interferon treatment. As with everything, talk to her doctor about this. Most doctors recommend some moderate exercise, so walking is great if she is able and it's not too taxing for her.
I'm not sure what you mean by liv.52. If it is a food supplement like an herbal / natural therapy, then NO, she shouldn't take it. The liver processes everything you eat, drink, inhale, and put on your skin. If she is in decompensation, then she must be very careful about what she takes, eats, drinks, etc. With Hep C, your liver can become very damaged without ever taking a drink of alcohol. Over the counter, non prescription medication and food supplements should be taken only after consulting with your liver specialist. Best wishes to you and your mom. I hope this helps you somewhat. The best advice I can give to you is to attend a support group and learn about the disease and treatment. Take care.
