Please Help: Health Information Question?

collin attorney asks dr pollie for medical records about collin's car accident and promises to provide a written autorization form collin. dr pollie gives the attorney collin's entire medicial records, including her records about her treatment of cancer and hiv. Was there any violations of hipaa privacy rule that may have occured.

It is possible that some violations may have occurred. The records should have been limited to the case at hand and not the entire medical history. Also the only bind you may be in is if collin signed a waiver to have her attorney receive medical records, if so you need to check and see what it was limited to.
