Why is everyone so scared of HIV? |
Its not a death sentence. You're more likely to die of a heart attack then from that bug with treatment. Wouldn't it be better just to enjoy all that life has to offer? well maybe you are afraid about the people wont like you.. when you live in a country like mexico.. the medications for hiv are expensive.. nobody wants aids.. and I am pretty sure.. we sure protect ourselves.. we should protect our bodies.. to wear the condom..and enjoy the life.. sweetie you have a point but put your seif in there shoes they are scared ARE YOU KIDDING Uhm because you'll die with a weakened immune system?? Ever thought of that? Why is everyone so scared of HIV? Hmm, because even with treatment the side effects of all the medications to keep you alive, its a painful, expensive and miserable existence? If you can afford to pay outrageous sums of money to lessen the pain and still get sick ALL THE TIME Then I'm sure you'll be fine. Remember not to have sex w/ anybody who doesn't have the virus cause if you go w/o a condom or it breaks, then they may get it too, and it's illegal to not inform with intention of sex. Doctors have to handle you with extreme caution or risk getting your blood on them so they could contract it from you. Society looking down on you because they think that your a slut or they're homophobics and think you're gay whether you are or not. Are you kidding? And that is if you can obtain the treatment. I work in foreign countries and very few of those people can afford to buy the medicine much less afford the consultation. I dont see too many infected people who are happy and living the life to the fullest. Most of them live in fear of being unable to control themselves and infect others so they just go on and ignore it like as if it were an STD like herpes. I've not always had safe sex but I have been picky about my partners. I Will be completely honest, there is no such thing as a painless death when it comes to HIV. You die at an age you don't want too and you die painfully and without honor. HIV destroys not just your life but once you find out you have to/should contact all your sexual partners and tell them. Then they have to tell their partners and I've known people to get shot/murdered because they got someone else infected. So basically its a cruel game of Russian Roulette. Do you want to take your chances? It's treatable, but it's also expensive...if you could protect yourself to save all that expense and illness WHY WOULDNT YOU? People wear their seat belts so they won't go through the windshield, right? Ive also watched a lot of friends pass from AIDS, I don't want to see any more of that. I dunno, nowadays, you only get HIV if you want it. I came out before AIDS. I have lost innumerable friends. People are afraid of AIDS because of all the crap one has to endure before it kills you. Having said that, people who have HIV need all the love and support they can get from their friends and family. But not everyone is so enlightened. So it becomes our job to enlighten them. I have had friends who died within months of diagnosis. I also have friends who have lived with it since the 80s. So, yes, it is better to enjoy all that life has to offer. But some people's fear of HIV is justified, but how they handle that fear is what we can have an affect on. Live life honestly and you can't go wrong. No regrets. HIV, can kill you slowly but sure. Lot'a doc says it's more dangerous than heart attack, hypertension, stroke, and even cancer! above mentioned, sometimes doc can cure, with a bit of luck and God bless. but HIV, there's no way you can deny...sooner or later you'r dead man. You can die from infection, pneumonia, tetanus, even influenza. Still not scared?? HIV is not a death sentence, but AIDS is. Once you have HIV you are one enormous step closer to having AIDS. 14,000 people died of AIDS in 2007. A little over 40,000 mostly women died of breast cancer in 2007. To answer your question specifically, and not go off on a tangent, I believe people are scared of anything they do not understand. They will assume, hypothesize and completely freak out, but they will still not gain the knowledge. In my opinion, fear is born from ignorance. When the AIDS epidemic was at a peak, there were many lies surrounding how you contracted the disease. This meant then, that people feared those who had the disease as no one knew how to keep safe. Unfortunately despite being better informed, this stigma never left. it麓s very bad, once you have it you can sentance to death a person you might love... HIV is a death sentance To me it is still a death sentence even though death usually results from an infection or complication associated with it. I still see your point but I personally don't see that as a legitimate reason not to be safe. I have enough crap to deal with in life without having to worry about another list of physical complications to add on top. Not to mention a lot of the meds for treating it have some nasty side affects I've heard... Not worth the risk to me. I wonder, if you have HIV you'll say that is not a death sentence? ask a someone who has AIDS about it because it is a definite death sentence.....the worst part about it is waiting to die from AIDS |
