Could you answer this multiple-choice question about HIV / AIDS ?

Which one of the following statements is TRUE?
A. In the 1980's and 1990's very few people with HIV/AIDS were subjected to stigma.
B. Anti-retroviral treatments are often complex and tedious for the patients.
C. Laws were passed in all states and countries banning discrimination against persons with AIDS.
D. The only drugs available have to be administered in a clinic or hospital setting.

B is true--i met an HIV patient who needed to carry around a small suitcase full of pills to deal with the infection and the side effects of the antiretrovirals

A-people definitely had even more of a stigma than there is now
C-some countries have specific laws promoting discrimination
D-there are many drugs that can be taken at home or anywhere and that can be picked up at a pharmacy with a prescription

c....im guessing

A there was and still is a lot of discrimination.
B these treatments are complex, but helpful
C this is true
d HIV meds can be picked up at a pharmacy, but you must take them as prescribed.

B! learned it in history, 100% sure

I would choose B!

a)not true...many/most were

b)not necessarily true, most first and second line regimens have in recent years reduced the pill burden...some are even lucky enough to be able to take a one pill/day regimen. Though later regimens can be more difficult and involve more pills

c)I don't know about every state passing laws, but HIV was 'read into' to Americans with Disability Act....and I think that is federal (I am from Canada, and I am getting this info from Philadelphia with Tom Hanks.....I can't see the movie getting this wrong.......So I don't know about EVERY state...

d)Define 'administered'.....if it means you actually have to receive and take your pill at a clinic or hospital this in NOT TRUE. However, you must be prescribed the meds by a licensed physician and can get the meds just like any other...at the pharmacy.
