I heard that they have pills now that can be given to kill hiv at its very early stages in case you come into?

contact, they use it for hospital workers. Is there some way to immediately identify if hiv could of came into contact with you and you may be at risk and then do this procedure? This may sound a little too much like science-fiction, but I envisioned something like a body alarm that kind of lets you know HIV ALERT HIV ALERT seek treatment! and you can just run to the hospital and take this pill regimen. Wouldn't this be, in a sense, a cure?

No your not crazy like everyone is saying under me because a situation like this happened to my best friend. she works at a hospital and she was not wearing gloves and got HIV blood on her hand. She had no open cuts, but what they did was rush her to emergency. They checked her hand to see if there were any open cuts. They then gave her a shot. This shot was supposed to kill hiv before it could attack her. I believe it's called a PEP or PPE shot. You could look it up to find out more. This shot is only effective immediately after exposure. They also have pills too that do the same thing because she actually had 2 incidents at work. The second time they gave her pills that are supposed to knock out the infection. These things only work a certain amount of hours after being exposed to hiv though. hope this helps. and no this is not a cure because it only works right after your exposed if you wait too long it won't work.

No. It does not exist.

So, you DIDN'T hear about this......you made it up.

no offense intended to you but don't you think if this were true it would be breaking news all over the world?! think about it everyone everywhere would be talking about this you would not need to come on here asking questions you would know about it along with everyone else in the world!!!

ur right, that was on an episode of House. one of the doctors got exposed to it when a patient spit blood on her face by accident. they gave her some pills to take. and most doctor shows try to show the truth about what happens in hospitals so this is most likely true.

Yes in a sense. I work in the ER and if you come in contact with an HIV positive person's blood, there are Post Exposure Prophylaxis medications. These are the regular HIV medications but what they do is attack the virus within 3 hours of exposure so the virus cannot replicate and infect you. It is not guaranteed, but I know of 2 people who have been poked by a needle with HIV positive blood. They took the medicine and were negative. It just gives you a better chance of not converting to HIV positive.
