Do you think people with HIV or AIDS should be refused entry to the United Kingdom?

This is a question, that has played on my mind for a while now. In the UK, we have taxes, as you all know, they pay for equipment (i.e. medicines, hospital supplies etc.), people doing services (paramedics, firemen, etc.) and they pay for unemployed people to sit on their backside all day doing nothing, but you pay for your healthcare in advance, that's what the NHS is for, but people who come over to the UK looking to have babies/abortions/treatment anger me because many Africans who I know say they are too poor to get treatment back home, but is that our problem? We provide more money to the world than the US does and they still come over here looking to get a nice flat and free treatment for their HIV or AIDS, which they have not paid in for like the rest of Brits have. This is unfair because citizens of this country should get first choice on housing and should be put before foreigners! When we go abroad, we have to pay for healthcare..why should they get it for free??

I am not a racist. And this means that foreigners looking for treatment should be refused, I do not mean British people because they have not flown to another country to get free healthcare, there are simply in the country they were born in and have paid their taxes to use the treatment and not be sponging off tax payer's money. I don't disagree with giving British people treatment to delay death when having HIV, because they have paid for it in tax, but once it turns to full blown AIDS, treatment should be stopped because it is no longer uncertain whether treatment will work to delay any further. And if people suffering with HIV swear to use condoms (although this doesn't always prove effective as they can split, but it still decreases the risk of catching the disease) or they should remain celibate and that way they cannot infect any more people. I just needed to clear that up.

Do you think people who test positive for HIV or Aids should be moved to a colony to live out there years. Maybe if you are the one to catch the disease you should be hung in trafalgar square. It's good to see your racism and paranoia are alive and well.

I agree with you. Our health service is already stretched so having to treat people with medical conditions such as HIV coming into the country is going to make things worse for the tax-paying citizens of Britain.

people who have HIVor Aids should not be allowed into the country, its bad enough when they don't pay for their medical treatment, but if they are here with the virus, how do we know what they are going to do with the population when they are here? Lets keep these people out and not give them any help wth this virus, its not our fault they have it!

Yes The Health Service is overburdened

Where shall we keep these hundreds of thousands of people per day, while we await their test results?

Wow! What a difficult question. The humanitarian position would be, yes they should be allowed entry. The tax paying side says they should stay in their country of origin for treatment. If the door is opened how can it ever be closed? There are questions on the immigration forms asking if a person has a contagious disease. HIV and AIDS are definitely contagious. Perhaps the best position is to not ask about HIV or AIDS and let the person in to the country based on other merits.

No that's discrimination. At first blush one would probably think that for other people it should probably be that they shouldn't be allowed to have intercourse and required to stay out of situations that could get them cut or otherly spread the disease, or If they want to have intercourse perhaps some form of AIDs colony could've been created. But it wouldn't be fair to them, they're still people with lives so they should be able to live as normally as possible before they have to go. It's just cruel and unusual for them not to be able to.

I don't think its fair to say that someone with HIV or AIDS should not be allowed into this country, but like america and australia people should have to prove that they can support themselves when they come to live in the UK. There should be a small amount of people that are arriving on political assylum be allowed housing and medical benefits but within a certain period of time should have to start paying rent. At the end of the day they should not be allowed to sponge off us. this way we are still helping others but not letting them take us for a ride.

I can see where you're coming from with your idea.
But from a humanitarian viewpoint, let me ask you this.

Where does it stop?

So we stop people with HIV or AIDS, are you going to stop people with any illness whatsoever from entering the UK?
What about people with hereditary illnesses?
What about people with cancer?

Seems a bit unfair to me.

Besides, how are you going to test them all, and where will you keep them while our notoriously slow NHS processes the results?

They shouldn't be allowed in, we have enough of our own to take care of.
England is a soft touch and they know this that's why they all come here, where else would a country give someone who has never worked in this country, never paid taxes, a house, money and a job, free driving lessons, a 拢1000 towards a car, 拢10,000 towards a house, only in England. We British, born and bred don't get help like that, we have to pay for driving lessons, save up for a deposit on a house, or wait on the housing list for years only to be given a grotty bedsit. I'm angry, can you tell?

People with AIDS, wow that's a new one isn't it? Where did you get this from? Everyone is talking about immigration and you talk about immigrants from Africa with AIDS, so AIDS is exclusive to only black people from Africa am i right? What going on in your head? You say that the UK provides more money to these people than anyone in the world but on the other hand probably steals trillions a day in OIL from Africa, no wonder Nigeria kidnapped and were threatining to kill those oil workers recently. Can't think why though?

Everyone entering our once tuberculous free country should pass a health test , not only for aids , but for all deases , and we should not burden what is left of our health service ,or ourselves , by picking up the tab for these people

Why so?
We have generated enough of our own to be worried about and forget about what we paid for.
My generation paid for everything that Thatcher and Blair have sold off, but no one listens to the immediate past.
My war started in 1939 and ended January 1948 when I got demobbed but a single room was unavailable.
With housing lists impossible to get on unless you were employed by the State or already with family things were grim.
It was 1955 before you could buy a house without having a permit to do so.

I agree that coming here just to get medical treatment of any sort is wrong (If they can afford to travel here they should use that money for it at home) but where do you draw the line. Aids isnt the only problem and Africans aren't the only ones who bring disease here. People dont even have to live here to spread diseases!
I've paid taxes and Insurance all my life yet people are already saying I shouldn't be treated for a smoking related illness. (I reckon I've paid more than enough in taxes to cover any)
Aids and HIV and STD's are spreading because people especially Young ones are still refusing to wear protection. If they dont get a disease the girl ends up pregnant. The cost of all that is far more than they Could have paid, in any time they'd worked. We end up paying the bill for their stupidity.
It's easy to pick on one thing and forget about all the rest though isn't it!

Yes, also those carrying TB. there has been a massive increase in the number of cases of TB in Britain the the last few years and the majority have been linked to people coming in from abroad carrying it and passing it on to others.

I am not heartless, but the NHS is over stretched and underfunded as it is and we do not need any more freeloaders coming into the UK just to use our health service. There are enough of our own citizens on waiting lists being denied treatment or having to wait for ages without them having to further back because "visitors" have jumped the queue.

They should ask the companies who make medicines to donate or get the goverments to give medicine instead of blankets,
that way they would not have to come over and put pressure on services that are already struggling.

Yes, IF Europe,Canada,USA etc. refuse entry of HIV positive Britons!...

A simple answer - No

I would have to agree with you on that
