Does addiction treatment really decrease the spreading of HIV and AIDS?

If so, how is it able to do this?

Yes, drug addiction treatment really does decrease the spreading of HIV and AIDS. This is because drug users are the ones likely to get such diseases. When a person takes drugs, he is more likely to engage in unprotected sex, and may thus do it with a partner who has a sexually transmitted disease. The transmission of the diseases may also be because of the sharing of drug paraphernalia such as needles. Thus, treating drug addicts will definitely help in lessening the spreading of HIV and AIDS. Studies have even shown that drug injectors who don't let themselves get subjected to treatment are up to 6 times more likely to get infected with HIV or AIDS, as opposed to the individuals who let themselves undergo treatment.
