Why can't the vaccine against HIV be uses?

what if it works

they have made vaccines for HIV but they only protect against one strain
HIV changes and evolves all the time creating more and more strains
they just can't keep up with it

in every clinical trial, the vaccines developed against HIV have not worked. there is no reason to do something that is absolutely not effective. in at least one study it was found that the group that recieved the vaccine was more suseptable to HIV infection than the placebo group.

It's been difficult to develop a vaccine against, or cure for, HIV because HIV mutates (changes) a lot, so a "one size fits all" approach will not work.
