Does having the hepatitis C vaccine protect me from getting the std related hepatitis?

I got the hepatitis A, B, and C series of vaccines all done. I was wondering if the C series of the vaccine will protect me from the hepatitis C disease. The only STDs that are commonly worried about are Hiv/AIDS, herpes, syph, herp, gonn, clam, and warts. People hardly ever talk about hep C though.

PS: I don't actually have any STDs im just asking this for education :)

Are you sure it wasn't the Meningitis C vaccine you got? I don't think a hepatitis C vaccine is available.

There is no vaccine for Hep C yet - If you are a woman you can get the Gardisil vaccine to protect against many straings of genital warts though.

People don't talk about Hep C because it is not really an STD unless you are into rough sex where the infected person's blood can be exposed to a open wound on your body. HCV requires a blood to blood transfer and cannot be transferred via saliva, semen or other fluids except blood.

Hepatitis C is primarily passed thru the blood, you get it from sharing needles, or being stuck with the needle used on someone with Hep C.
It can be transmitted also with tatoo needles that are used and not properly cleaned, and rarely thru sex. It requires blood to blood contact to transmit.

There is no Hep C vaccine.
