I am pregnant with HIV and am worried about the swine flu?

i am pregnant and i stopped taking my HIV meds last week so i could save money up for the swine flu vaccine. now that it looks like the swine flu isnt going to end the world, i am worried that the baby might have contracted HIV since i stopped the meds. what are the chances that my baby will have my AIDS? do i need to get an abortion and start over with a new clean baby?

There are some things about your posting that raise suspicion.

1. Stopped taking HIV meds to save money for swine flu vaccine: It's a well publicized fact there's no vaccine on the market yet so you wouldn't know how much it will cost.
2. You're worried the baby may have contracted HIV: If you are what you say you are, you'd know that your HIV status is more immediate than a case of the flu and I find it difficult to believe you'd make this decision without the advice of a doctor.
3. The chances of your baby having AIDS: Zero. No one starts out with AIDS. Why don't you know this?
4. Abortion: Someone had to prescribe the HIV meds you allegedly stopped taking. Why aren't you asking them?

If you're typing at a computer then you probably have the means to seek prenatal care. You certainly had the means to see medical treatment for HIV. I don't believe that an expectant mother would imply that her baby is dirty or contaminated the way you have. Your statements don't ring true.

it is said that there will not be a swine flu vaccine until fall.. so there is no reason for you to stop taking your medicine now.

Second,

how long were you off the meds to begin with. Talk to your doctor.. he of all people will know what your certain chances are.

I don't believe you should get off the meds. You're ACTUALLY at best odds for this. It is said that this flu attacks worst people with strong immune systems because their system goes haywire trying to get rid of it.

While, older people or other people with low immune systems, their bodies will not react that way.

Why take swine flu medicine..it is a a type virus and according to the world health organization it is nothing more than a cold. Listen...only 7 WORLDWIDE have died from it...(according to them...) and NO ONE in the U.S! The one that did die here came from across the border seeking help.

In over 300 BILLION people in the U.S....only 100 have it....

do you know what your chances are in getting it? Stick to your own HIV medicine..that is better for you and your child.

In all sincerity and not meaning to point fingers...but what are you doing getting pregnant and then putting that baby in danger...what are you thinking? Are you REALLY ready for motherhood? Have you thought ANYTHING about the baby or is this all about YOU? You wanted a baby...YOU were worried about YOUR Health and not the baby....YOU YOU YOU....

stop freakin out and it depends where you live your likelihood of getting H1N1 virus (if you are in Cali, Texas or Florida then i would worry)

I wouldnt know but you should ask your doctor about this situation and see what they they you.
