HIV patient?

if someone is hiv +ve,should he or she repeat childhood vaccines like MMR,hepatitis B and pnumovax

you really should be consulting a physician on this, not yahoo! answers.

Im not an expert on HIV by any means, so definately consult one, but my first thought is that in HIV the immune system isnt functioning so a vaccine which is meant to make the body immune to something (via the non- functioning immune system) wouldnt work.

Does that make sense?

Im not sure on this, its just a thought.

Interesting question.

I don't think the vaccines would ware off. But ask your Dr.

Yes. My doctor did all of the ones you just mentioned.

yes

The one immunization that I know our clinic advises is to have the chicken pox vaccine, if you have not had a big case of chicken pox. Chicken pox is really a danger to anyone with HIV. Being around anyone with this, or shingles, or any type Herpes can really be deadly to anyone with HIV. If you had this as a child, a big case of it, then, it would not help you. If you have not had chicken pox, get the vaccine. Hep shots are, also good for you to have, if you have HIV. Of course, if you have Hep A,B, or C..........it will not help you. If you do not, get those shots into yourself. My son has HIV, and was pricked by a dirty needle of a patient who had Hep C 1A, he was rushed to emergency, and given a LOT of shots and treatment. So far, the Hep has not shown up in his system. (the person had just plopped a bag of needles into his hand, unexpectedly, and one of them DID puncture his hand!). There are shots that you need to keep yourself as healthy as possible, and they will help your immune system. Please, take care.
