What would be the reponse to an HIV vaccine? |
Considering the reposne to the HPV vaccine, would you want this vaccine, would you want teens to get it? What do you think people would do? i aggree with the last answer written there... it will be challenging at best to come up with an AIDS vaccine b/c of the incredible ability of the virus to mutate. However, I have faith that there are some very intelligent creative people out there who just may be able to create such a vaccine. However, even if it is effective for 5 years or so, against all the initial mutations, I worry about the virus eventually mutating again, further down the road. All good, there is no bad new to a vaccine. It would be great. Fudgepackers would love it, because they could have anal sex without condoms. They'd reopen all the gay bath-houses in san francisco. bad idea never in a million years It would be utter relief, that we could stop this gruesome scourge and then tackle other pressing issues that surround it, like the grinding poverty of sub-Saharan Africa, or malaria, or leischmaniasis, or trypanosomiasis. At some point, HIV and HPV vaccines will become as common as a measles vaccine. The HIV vaccine will have some detractors but it will be praised for the most part. But I would probably suggest wainting a couple of years to make sure it is affective (as would with any new technology). I truly believe people (particularly those who're homosexual) would take it as a license to began once again performing their debauchery in total disregard for the health, morals and safety of those who are not. If a vaccine did exist they would probably want to give it to children, that way there is a very slim chance they could have the disease before getting the vaccine. I think that it wouldn't make people have more sex, or feel like it gives them permission to have sex, there are other diseases out there and many other reasons than HIV that people have to think about before engaging in sex. The people who are at the greatest risk are the people who are not informed about risks and other issues involving sex, and transmited diseases. not much response to HIV vaccine because HIV virus mutates and antibodies that your immune system makes to HIV vaccine will not work . An HIV vaccine could help the world. It would not only help those without HIV but could help those that now do have HIV. It would work best after a reduction of viral load has occurred and a slowing down of the immune response has been in place for a while. Then the vaccine could actually help to keep the bloodstream free from virus although some virus may remain in the body hiding. In essence, this would be a cure. |
