If an AIDS/HIV vaccine was created would you allow your children to get it? |
If an AIDS/HIV vaccine (not a cure but an injection that would prevent them from contracting it) was created would you allow your children to get it? If so at what age would you, or would you not let them get it because you think that gives them permission to have sex? I would not only let them, I would take them to take it myself. Why is it that if something has the word sex in it it becomes taboo. Is a health issue. I look at it this way. Lets say you have a dog. You train your dog not to lay on the sofa. What is to prevent the dog from laying on the sofa once you leave the house. Some dogs will obey and others won't. Same with people. You can give people the best advice in the world but in the end is their desition regardless of what age they are. If kids abstain from sex great. If they don't then at least thats one less thing that we have to worry about. The morons of these world are more than happy to denied kids such a vaccine because they view sex as evil. I think that kids having sex is too young but just because they fall under temptation it doesn't have to mean a death sentence. Also, it is ridiculous to think that every parent is a good parent. By making such a vaccine mandatory it will make it so that less fortunate kids would have access to them. yesw i would give it 2 them rigth when they hit puberty its not like they woudl disagrree..w.it unless they want aids.. I would allow my children to get it, probably around 12 or 13. I would give it to them when they were a baby so wouldnt know that they were immune to it. I would still educate them on the dangers of it and everything and make them believe they were at risk. i totally agree with you....but it still doesnt give them permission to have sex b/c they could still get other std's you know.... Are you working for a drug company? no differnt then birth control, but at a age that is older then 8 yrs I would let them get it along with their immunization shots just to be safe..I know of people who still have contracted hepatitis from blood transfusions..so if that can be missed..i'm not completely secure about AIDS...rembmer it's not just contracted from sex No! because we are already test dummies for the U.S.A .(Bush) Since it's a behaviorly spread disease, they can wait until they hit 18 to make the decision on their own. Side affects of any shot are something to consider. Let me ask you all this: would you let a doctor inject you with dead HIV viruses? And if one of them was no-so-dead? People do have negative reactions to shots. To tell the truth, I'd still tell my kids that the best thing would be to find out if they're about to sleep with an HIV+ person, and then take the vaccine if they are. I know there are a lot of people who are positive, but I find it rather disturbing that they might not reveal this to their intimates. To me, that constitutes a kind of extortion; if you have to take a prescription just to have sex, something isn't right... Yes, I know, contraception is almost exactly the same, but if you don't want to take it, you don't have to. Of course I'd give it to them. It would be completely irresponsible to "incent" them not to have sex by keeping a deadly disease in play as a potential penalty. Sure, I'd allow them to get it. Yep, around puberty, too. I don't think it gives them permission to have sex. It's just an added precaution, like this new HPV vaccine out for girls now. Yes, I would allow my children to get the vaccine. You may look at it like I would be giving them permission to have sex, but I would be also protecting them from the transmission of the disease from sex crimes. it wouldn't matter what age they were, as long as it was safe for them to receive it. My brother died of AIDS. It was in the 80's before they had the cocktails that they do now. It was a horrible, painful way to die. He was in his early 30's. I would never deny my children the security of being vaccinated. It's a protection against one of the worst disease ever. If I would protect them from polio, why not AIDS? I would get the doctor to give it to them with their routine jabs as a baby |
