HIV question...?

Do you think with all the development of new drugs to treat people with HIV, that people will start to look at it differently and not worry as much about protection...( like my mom said back in the day syphillis was FEARED and nobody wanted to catch it but now with the drugs they have it's kinda like " Oh damn I gotta go to the doctor and get a shot...oh well" and people don't care anymore because they know it can be controlled. But the question is...Do you think the same is happening with the Aids virus, people are starting not to care because of the developments...?

Influenza(the flu) killed millions in the 19th and 20th centuries...much fewer now, but though you might feel like dying when yo get a cold, you don't actually believe you're in danger of that happening. Medical progress does make people take fewer precautions; but then, why would you want to be a shut-in if it isn't going to actually help you to avoid something dangerous?

Probably...it's only natural when something becomes less harmful/hazardous that people won't worry quite so much about it. That doesn't mean people don't care if they acquire HIV (it's still incurable) but it's not an automatic death sentence like it once was, so the fear that was behind it isn't as severe anymore.

It's still quite serious, and still can be deadly, and still expensive to treat and something a person will have to deal with the rest of their life...I'll always take it as seriously as I ever did. It's NOT something I ever want myself or my loved ones (or anyone really) to experience.
