More serious HIV/Aids Question...

Does someone here knows the stats of suicides after contracting the HIV virus...
I'm just curious about it.
Actually, I've been planning for it if I'm come up positive. But now i realized that there're somethings good to do with your life...like raising money for my health status and doing great things before my life ends, as well as helping people.
gonna wait for your answers. tnx...

i know suicide runs through everyones mind when hiv is a concern. But they soon come to realize that you can live a much longer, healther life, now then you could 10yrs ago. Good luck with your result, and keep a positive attidude

Sorry, I don't have the statistics you are looking for. But I did want to mention this: HIV is not a death sentence. Even years ago, when it was newly discovered and we had no way of slowing or stopping it, people infected with HIV still could live for years before finally receiving an AIDS diagnosis and eventualy reaching their death. Now with today's technology, people infected with HIV have the oppurtunity to live long, healthy lives. Magic Johnson is a great example of this: he tested positive for HIV in the early 90s, and nearly 2 decades later he's still alive and kicking.

There is no cure for HIV infections, and perhaps that is something we will not see in our lifetime. But there are medications that allow for a substantially greater quality of life than you are expecting, and when it comes down to it, the healthier you aim to be while infected, the healthier you will remain. So by all means, if your teste comes back positive, use it as an oppurtunity to help yourself and others come to terms with their condition. But also realize that you most likley will have many years before death looms, so don't force the process upon yourself, and remeber to take care of yourself.

HIV is not the end of your life.

I've been positive for nearly 5 years now and I have met a man (negative) and we now have a 3 year old daughter. On top of that, I have chronic back and leg pain along with anxiety and depression. I've dealt with a lot of crap in my 29 years of life and I'm still here.

I believe things happen for a reason in their crazy own ways. I have appeared in a magazine here in Australia telling my story and I think I'm here to drop the barrier as to who a HIV+ person can be.

If you are in fact positive, you need to use that for good things - you aren't going to die in a couple of years, let along 10-20 years. You will live a long life depending on how you want to live it and that means being healthy and living with HIV as the chronic illness it is.

*hugs*

These days, people with HIV are living much longer, healthier than they used to be able to, thanks to new treatments. Treatments can significantly increase the amount of time between a diagnosis of HIV and a diagnosis of AIDS. HIV is NOT a death sentence.
Do you have a good support system? Talking with a doctor and counselor about your concerns might be helpful.

Well I was happy to read that you have decided against taking your life. People live for ever now with all the new drugs and science.
You can teach others especially the kids..promote safe sex. We all know you cannot stop sex, but people need to know that they can get sick and die now days from un protected sex. There is no excuse? Right? But we all in a fit of passion forget to use a condom. Being raped well there is no protection.
I will pray that God spares your life that you may still go out and do 'good works' for others who need teaching.

Let me know if there is anything I can do,K?
Be positive! And Never give up!

sorry i dont noe anything
