Is it possible for the HIV virus to mutate into an airborne virus?

Is it possible for the HIV virus to mutate into an airborne virus?

Each virus has its own unique protein coat and in the case of HIV this coat is not strong enough to allow sustained "life" outside of bodily fluids. However, should the protein coat mutate, it is possible it could become an airborne virus. Most viral mutations occur out of the necessity to survive. Since we have no natural immunities to HIV, and no antibiotics to kill it, it's unlikely to mutate.

HIV is only transferable via bodily fluids (semen, breastmilk, or blood). You will not going to get it from someone spitting on you because it is a blood infection. Viruses can't live or reproduce outside of a host.

That being said, anything is possible in biology, it is just an extremely outside chance of it happening. It is unlikely to happen in our lifetime.

only in a science lab

It was done once a few years ago It made the news
someone combined the HIV virus with the common cold.
they said their creation was destroyed afterwards, and there was no possibility of their creation getting out of the lab..

Scientists doing something just because they can - is often wrong
