My cat has aids and I'm unsure of what to do about biting.? |
My cat Mittens has aids and I'm concerned because every time it gets out of the house it ends up biting my neighbors and there pets..i haven't told them that the cat has aids, should i be concerned of the cat infecting them with HIV? And can the cats poo possibly spread the virus? You are aware that your cat has FIV and you are allowing him outdoors? FIV-positve cats need to be kept in strict confinement away from other cats because of the risk of spreading. Allowing him to go outside or even be in an aware where he can repeatedly escape is irresponsible. FIV is typically spread by a bite wound, so feces are not a concern, but that doesn't change the fact that your cat is not only putting the other neighborhood cats at risk, he is also exposing his potentially immuno-compromised self to infections. You need to let your neighbors know immediately so they may have their cats tested, and keep your cat indoors. DO NOT ALLOW AN FIV POSITIVE CAT OUTDOORS!!!! The cat does not have HIV it has FIV, and its only contagious to other cats. You are being very irresponsible to let him out knowing he has a contagious disease. Keep him indoors, and rehome him if you cannot do that. There is no FIV vaccine, you are putting your neighbor's cats at risk and they do have a right to know about it IMO, so that they can keep their cats in if you cannot control yours. cats do not carry the same HIV virus as people do.. Feline AIDS & human AIDS are similar ONLY in that they are both diseases of the blood & can be used to study one another. cats get hiv just like we do but cats hiv is not the same as ours. there is no way of contracting aids from a cat. but do you have your cat on medical care because it is a very vicious for them. i had a cat that had hiv once. and he needed a lot of medical care. but it will not hurt your friends but it will be contracted to another cat if he fights with them. seek your vets attention and take of your baby.love ya lots. cat Firstly, FIV is different than HIV. The cat can't transmit it to people, however it can infect other cats. So, since you know the cat has this disease, you MUST keep the cat indoors. It's irresponsible to allow the cat out. That's a tricky question because never heard of a cat having aids before. But, if it was me, that could be a dangerous bio-hazard to you and other people, so I would probably say you would have to put him down. biting is how it's transmitted. Only other cats can get it. Especially from bites although sharing food, water, and litterbox areas can spread it too. YOU know your cat is FIV (it's FIV, not HIV) and yet you're letting it run amok in the neighborhood? Keep the cat inside How does a cat get aids!??!?!?!??!?!? |
