Is it possible to be born with HIV if there is absoloutely no history of anyone having it in your family? |
I was just wondering if a person could just develop the virus from birth without having caught it from anyone else, is this possible? NO! I DON'T THINK SO "it is possible but highly unlikely. Adding on to the first answer, the only way for it to be possible is a genetic mutation which is EXTREMELY unlikely." HIV is NOT caused by a genetic mutation. HIV is a retrovirus. You cannot "develop" the virus spontaneously. For a child to be born with it, the infection must have been pass on from the other. it is possible but highly unlikely. Adding on to the first answer, the only way for it to be possible is a genetic mutation which is EXTREMELY unlikely. No. In order to have it from birth, the baby's mother would have to be HIV+. No, to be born with HIV, the mother must have it. Of all the discussions we can have about HIV, see what HIV/AIDS has done to the African children:check out, |
