I'm thinking about trying marijuana?

Should I do it? What are the long term effects of marijuana use on your health? Short term outside of being high? Is it addictive?

I read on a government website that it could lead to AIDS.

Here's the expert

"What Are the Common Effects?

For some people, smoking marijuana makes them feel good. Within minutes of inhaling, a user begins to feel 鈥渉igh,鈥?or filled with pleasant sensations. THC triggers brain cells to release the chemical dopamine. Dopamine creates good feelings鈥攆or a short time. [3]

Imagine this: You're in a ball game, playing out in left field. An easy fly ball comes your way, and you鈥檙e psyched. When that ball lands in your glove your team will win, and you鈥檒l be a hero. But, you鈥檙e a little off. The ball grazes your glove and hits dirt. So much for your dreams of glory.

Such loss of coordination can be caused by smoking marijuana. And that鈥檚 just one of its many negative effects. Marijuana affects memory, judgment, and perception. Under the influence of marijuana, you could fail to remember things you just learned, watch your grade point average drop, or crash a car. Some people may suffer sudden feelings of anxiety and have paranoid thoughts鈥攚hich is more likely to happen when higher doses are used or when it is taken orally. The problem is that it鈥檚 difficult to tell what the effects of marijuana will be for any given person at any time, because they vary based on the person, their drug history, how much marijuana is taken, and its potency. Effects can also be unpredictable when other drugs are mixed with marijuana.

Also, since marijuana can affect judgment and decision making, using it can lead to risky sexual behavior, resulting in exposure to sexually transmitted diseases, like HIV, the virus that causes AIDS."

That's the site.

Thanks

Total propaganda. This kind of alarmism has no basis in objective fact, it just constitutes the polemnics of a particular political agenda.

I am all in favor of practicing civil disobedience by consuming so-called "illegal drugs". The illegality of these substances is not justifiable whatsoever within the parameters of a free society, and the illegality strictly represents an authoritarian approach. A crime is simply not a crime unless there is a victim whose rights have been infringed. Being subject to prosecution for victimless crimes does not make you a free citizen, it makes you a slave.

The major caveat I'd like to express though is that in practicing any form of civil disobedience against government tyranny, you must be ready to accept the consequences of that tyranny.

LOL the aids thing is so much crap

read it again, its basically saying if you have sex you get aids hahaha woow the crap they pull out to stop kids from smoking
according to the article, it just says you'll get high period. dont do anything stupid while your high period.

It won;t lead to AIDS, unless by that they meant you could be more easily convinced to have sex. But that's a stretch.

It will jack you up anyways. It's like asking if you should try ramming your head into walls.

Lol, dont listen to all that anti-drug b/s youre sure to get. All pot does is make you relaxed and happy, then you get the munchies and watch a movie. Just remember to crank the tunes.

It's better not to even try it. You may have a bad experience with it & end up in the ER. I've known plenty of people who have had that happen to them. Now days it could be laced with something. DON'T DO IT!

You should try it. It's fun and makes you think crazy stuff. It also makes movies like Wall-E better. As for the AIDS thing, that is ridiculous and incorrect.

It's not addicting.
Your first time will be great!
The smell doesn't stick to your clothes either.
Just don't go anywhere after you've been smoking b/c your coordination will be lacking.

why are you thinking about trying it? is it a medical necessity?

Why thinking so much. Just try it.

Go right ahead. No one is stopping you from killing your own brain and body.

Ok, there are going to be only two outcomes.
1. you like it
2. you don't like it

If you don't like it, easy, you will not do it again.

If you do like it, will you do it again? It really depends on what kind of person you are. Are you rational or irrational. I like chocolate cake, but I know that it is unhealthy for me so I choose not to constantly eat chocolate cake. If I choose to constantly eat the cake, I am aware of the health consequences.
