Can you catch it in the sea?...or even in the swimming pool?

I was just wondering, viruses, illness' and diseases spread through blood (like HIV) can they be caught in water?

Although it rare, say someone gets bit by shark in the sea, they bleed lots, on video clips you can see the whole area around them turn red. Or just say they happen to get hurt in the sea, the waves crash you in to a rock..... or even in a swimming pool i know people who have hurt there knees and cracked there heads in a pool.

Do they spread this into the water?

Blood borne viruses really need more intimate contact to spread, either by direct injection, such as shared needles or exchange of body fluids such as sexual intercourse.

a test on the HIV virus some years ago concluded it could survive on a public banister for several hours.I would guess your chance of catching it in the ocean would be as likely as being hit by a meteorite.

The virus of HIV cannot survive without a human host. It is not possible for it to be transmitted in this manner.

Hep. B has been found in the ocean as well as other bacteria/illnesses.

The pool...One would think that the chlorine would kill off the germs but I am not completly sure.

verucka is a disease spread tru water from human to human

i agree with karen you cant catch unless you have human contact though sex or needle sharing though blood but blood is now screed for this. you cant get it by sea water or my pool water
