Can you get STDs this way?

Is it dangerous to get small amounts of semen in your mouth? Can you get an STD that way? Also, does the disease in semen die when it hits the air? I was told a while back that when blood and semen hit the air, the HIV virus and other STD viruses die. How do you handle oral sex with someone who has a lot of pre-ejaculatory semen?

Yes, you can get diseases that way. HIV can be passed through four fluids: Blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. The HIV virus is present in semen, so even getting small amounts of semen into the mouth can be dangerous. STD and HIV viruses don't die when they hit the air, necessarily. Take the STD Hepatitis B for example: it is 100 times MORE infectious than HIV! The reason being that the virus can live OUTSIDE of the body from several days to several weeks. Some STDs aren't even passed through semen or blood. Herpes can be passed through intercourse or oral sex and you could never even know it. Some people show symptoms (like having open blisters on the genital region) while others dont show any symptoms (although, even without symptoms, they are capable of passing the virus through viral shedding).

About handling oral sex--the safest thing to do would to make sure whoever you are with is clear of STDs and HIV. If you don't know whether or not the person is STD free then use a condom for a male or a dental dam (its an EXTREMELY thin piece of latex that goes over a womans genitals). While it may not be the most ideal or romantic--its definitely going to keep you a lot safer than not using one.

I hope that helped! Be safe!

yes you can get stds that way. viruses usually die in air but if it is hot and moist not necessarily. pre-ejac either swallow it or let it ooze out adn use it for lubrication then clean up
