Independent study in Biochemistry? |
I am a high junior who would like to take an independent study course next year. Viya..the textbook Immunobiology : The Immune System in Health and Disease 6th ed. by Janeway, Travers, Walport, and Shlomchik ( Garland Science Pub ) is excellent and very readable..with pertinent and detailed illustrations , figures, schematics and flowcharts. Fundamentals of Immunology by Paul is considered one of the "Bibles" of immunology and may be a useful supplementary text after you finsih Janeway. It is extremely well annotated but tends to be a bit "long-winded". The areas of autoimunity and the use of iRNA techniques for treatment of immunological disorders are exciting. New technologies dealing with vaccines and memory cells are at the forefront as well. Kuby's Immunology 5th edition is a good book to check out. |
