Who invented the HIV virus?

The HIV virus does not seem to be a natural virus. It seems to be a man made retrovirus. If so, who could've possibly invented it? The HIV pandemic is less than 37 years old, which leads me to theorize that it was not naturally created, but possibly created by some kind of mad scientist or sick psycho. I would appreciate your help and your answers. Thank you.

Perhaps it is a natural disease but was misdiagnosed as something else years ago.

No one knows

an urban legend says it was made when a man had sex with a monkey

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiv

It probably boils down to Humans ...Humans are the worst when it comes to Disease.

It was me... My bad.

It's an STD!

i'm not so sure if there was anyone to actually create it but im sure that it started when 2 people with different body types and different things in their bodies had sex-- STD

It was created by the Bush administration.

P.S., I really hope you're not serious.

Some crazy horny white man, and a monkey..
So i heard for years :S

My health teacher in middle school said that someone had sex with a monkey & the monkey gave that person a sexually transmitted disease.
& this person had sex with more people & it just kept growing & growing & growing.

But I can't always trust that crazy person.

I'm convinced it's just a mutation to kill down the population.

first of all y would anyone invent a virus and y is this under singles and dating it should be under something elese

your on to something there but i honestly don't think that anyone knows and if they do email me i wanna know more. :)

now see that's a good question.

oh and it wasn't some guy and a monkey that's for sure.

tsk tsk all you stupid people.

It wasn't invented, it was contracted.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, three main transmission routes for HIV have been identified:

Sexual route. The majority of HIV infections are acquired through unprotected sexual relations. Sexual transmission can occur when infected sexual secretions of one partner come into contact with the genital, oral, or rectal mucous membranes of another.
Blood or blood product route. This transmission route can account for infections in intravenous drug users, hemophiliacs and recipients of blood transfusions (though most transfusions are checked for HIV in the developed world) and blood products. It is also of concern for persons receiving medical care in regions where there is prevalent substandard hygiene in the use of injection equipment, such as the reuse of needles in Third World countries. HIV can also be spread through the sharing of needles. Health care workers such as nurses, laboratory workers, and doctors, have also been infected, although this occurs more rarely. People who give and receive tattoos, piercings, and scarification procedures can also be at risk of infection.
Mother-to-child transmission (MTCT). The transmission of the virus from the mother to the child can occur in utero during the last weeks of pregnancy and at childbirth. In the absence of treatment, the transmission rate between the mother and child is 25%.[16] However, where drug treatment and Cesarian section are available, this can be reduced to 1%.[16] Breast feeding also presents a risk of infection for the baby.
HIV-2 is transmitted much less frequently by the MTCT and sexual route than HIV-1.

HIV has been found at low concentrations in the saliva, tears and urine of infected individuals, but there are no recorded cases of infection by these secretions and the potential risk of transmission is negligible.[22] The use of physical barriers such as the latex condom is widely advocated to reduce the sexual transmission of HIV. Spermicide, when used alone or with vaginal contraceptives like a diaphragm, actually increases the male to female transmission rate due to inflammation of the vagina; it should not be considered a barrier to infection.[23] Trials, in which uncircumcised men were randomly assigned to be medically circumcised in sterile conditions and given counseling and other men were not circumcised, have been conducted in South Africa,[24] Kenya[25] and Uganda[26] showing reductions in HIV transmission for heterosexual sex of 60%, 53%, and 48% respectively. As a result, a panel of experts convened by WHO and the UNAIDS Secretariat has "recommended that male circumcision now be recognized as an additional important intervention to reduce the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men."[27] Research is clarifying whether there is a historical relationship between rates of male circumcision and rates of HIV in differing social and cultural contexts. Critics point out that any correlation between circumcision and HIV is likely to come from cultural factors (which govern not only whether someone is circumcised, but also their sexual practices and beliefs).[28] South African medical experts are concerned that the repeated use of unsterilized blades in the ritual (not medical) circumcision of adolescent boys may be spreading HIV.[29]

They come from needles

Here's some info on that.

Try reposting this in Heath, instead of Singles & Dating.

You can also put your search engine to work and look up the origin of HIV and see what info you find.

well dont laugh but i'm dead serious i heard a man visiting in africa was scratched by a wild monkey and that started it and he eventually passed it on to his partners hey thats wat i found out

and no human is a disease

HIV was introduced to the human race by primates and the sick men who couldn't resist the urge of sleeping with them. Those infected men then passed it onto the world by sleeping with female humans.

God.

If you believe in that sort of thing.

I heard it started in Africa among gay men and started spreading outward.

it originated in nonhuman primapes and transferred to humans in the 20th century.

it wasn't invented. It was actually first discovered first in a british sailor mid 50's. Check the "go red" website or whatever it's called, they have a huge ongoing campaign w/ plenty of history and other info

People believe the HIV virus was created by the US government to wipe out homosexuals. Anyone who knows the history of the virus has heard about the guy having intercourse with some monkey in Africa and contracting it that way.

maybe natural mutation could have "invented" the virus... or it could have been some random person who had blood/saliva/liquid transfer with a chimp...

it came from when the imigrents where coming in -befor the peopel where checked.

i think it was from someone from transalvania or honduras i dont remember... and he was gay, it was just an abnormal virus or something that developed over time... he had intercourse with other gay males and it was passed around. america ignorantly called it the "gayman's disease" which is not true because it effects everyone, male female, black, white, gay, straight, tall, short.

now its Aids Auto-immune dificency syndrum [i beleive] and its still going one. predomanately in teh poorer countries who can't affored aids awairness.

IT WAS NOT CAUSED BY HAVING SEX WITH A MONKEY!!!!!! AND IT WAS NOT GREATED BY THE GOVENERMENT!

Throughout history a lot of new viruses have discovered. It is something of a mystery how the come about, but it just shows how clever they are at mutating. Nature makes much better viruses than man can.

Some people think that its gods way of punishing gay people. Its ridiculous i know but hey there's some crazes out there!

It is actually quite possible for it to be a natural disease.
Diseases, bugs, viruses, and bacteria are dynamic. They can comstantly change to adapt to their environment so they are better suited and have a better chance for survival.

Now you may say: "But it wasn't around before, and nothing similar to it was either."

That is possibly true, but think of it this way.

A long time ago, there were not many humans.
They began to muliply.
As they multiply more and more of them are having sex.
the more the quantity having sex, the greater the chance of catching a virus and having it evolve.

It is also possible to be man made.

No real clear origin for HIV, unfortunately.

There are actually several conspiracies for the HIV virus and one of them theorizes that its actually an engineered or modified virus. However the theory's backbone also says that the HIV virus is supposed to wipe out poor people for "inferior" people from the face of the map.
Vaccines are being developed. Sure drug companies are making tons of money from medicines right now but there's no reason for them not to make a vaccine for HIV. The motivation? money of course. HIV is a lifelong disease, they'd make tons of money especially the company who can get first dibs on a vaccine.

FYI the official explanation for HIV is that it was originally the SIV (simian immunodeficiency virus)- that is that it was a HIV virus that inflicted primates.
A lot of monkeys in Africa, it would be only natural for SIV to progress to HIV because of some close contact with humans. There are a lot of crazy theories for HIV trust me bud, but really back when HIV popped out we were experimenting with chemicals and there was still a lot of research to be done when it comes to modifying viruses as they can now today.

legend has it, sex with a monkey, but really no body knows. I pray to god that somebody did not pllan this, because it is a horrible disease.
