Co-infected with Hep C and HIV? |
If you became co-infected with HIV and Hep C does that prolong your hiv window period of 3 months? To get a proffesionals answer go to this site Hep C infection does not alter/affect the window period for HIV seroconversion in any way. I'm not a medical professional, but just in case you don't get an answer - the HIV test detects the presence of antibodies specific to HIV infection. Antibodies are produced in the spleen, lymph nodes, and bone marrow. Since the functions of these tissues are not directly tied to liver function, there would little or no effect on the time it took for HIV antibodies to show up. To be cautious, you could simply wait 45 days before getting a test to make sure you don't get a false negative. |
