Hiv window?

whats the dormant period

HIV's dormant period can vary greatly from person to person. Your antibody production against the virus will not be high enough to be detected until usually around 3 months but it can be up to 6 months before you can have a positive test. You may not show symptoms for many years. The virus will go through many dormant times and other times, for reasons unknown, may begin to replicate again, so it comes in waves. If someone is knowingly infected with the virus and gets to a doctor within 24 hrs they can be started on suppression therapy which will can stop the virus from taking hold and therefore stopping you from getting HIV even after it has entered your body. If you have had a risky encounter recently I suggest you see a doctor as soon as possibly because the sooner treatment is started the better the prognosis.

The dormant period is one in which the virus seems to be inactive or sleeping until something such as a cold causes it to wake up. I hope this somehow makes sense to you
