Can anyone tell me what the hiv window period is, 3 moths or 6? |
Can anyone tell me what the hiv window period is, 3 moths or 6? HIV can take anywhere from 3 months up to 10 years before it shows up in tests. I was a medic years ago and on a call a drug user stab me with a use needle. He was HIV/AIDS positive. My first HIV test was at 3 months then 6 months and then 1 a year for 10 years. I still get one every two years now just to be safe. Hope this helps because HIV/AIDS is not to be played around with. Right now AIDS has a 100% death rate. hiv can take up to 6 mos to show up in a blood test. im told up to 10 yrs It can take up to six months. There are documented cases however where HIV remains at very low undetectable levels in the body for years, and it is transferable. To my knowledge, there isn't a window . . . stop being nervous about it when you die of other causes, I think. Go to your M.D. immediately and get tested. He or she can give you all of the info you need about testing. They can also start you on a round of medication that can help slow the replication of the virus. It may be embarrassing but your health is at stake and it is up to you to take care of yourself. If you have had unprotected sex or possible used a needle of infected person within the last 6 months you should get tested for HIV. In the body of an uninfected person the CD-4 count or the T-helper cells range from 500 to 1,600. Depending on how high your count is determines the whether so not the antibodies show up in your blood or not. |
