Why do some African Americans sneer at me for being African?

For example, this black kids were making fun of me from being from Africa that we all lived in huts and inveted with HIV and african americans are more hardworking than us lazy africans.
Plus, they don't consider me Black b/c I'm somali even though that is the most stupidest thing I ever heard.

Why do some african americans make fun of africans here in the U.S?
Don't they know their hertiage?
and I know africans do the same, but I hear it more from the african american community.

It's a simple case of disowning their heritage!

A psycological problem of course.

It's definatley got to be your location or the people you are around. I go to a historically black high school (Central High School in Louisville, Ky) and there are plenty of Africans that go to my school, and most are Somali and then there are some others. The Africans seem to fit in as they are African American, some practice their own culture while some assimilate, we are all one so it doesn't matter to me. I even have several good friends who are Somali. What's the point in stereotyping each other, we all some how descend from the same continent and are classified under the n3groid race.

Those kids who give you those problems are damn ignorant and you don't have to deal with that. So you should find a way to get away from that nonsense and bless others who are worth it with your presence. Ignorance should not be tolerated.

Although I'm "African American", I say Black American, I overall respect immigrants in the United States from Africa more than African Americans. From what I have experienced, people from Africa are much more kinder, and more appreciative in things. Everywhere I go, they smile at me and I smile back. It's so peaceful. People really need to stop giving them a bad name.
