Many reasons. Culturally a man demands sex and a woman complies....no I have a headache excuses,the government,for a very long time denied the connection between sex and Aids,it is common belief that if you have sex with a virgin,you will be cured of HIV,so many rapes of little girls,who contract the disease.On top of all this,lack of public awareness on the use of condoms,lack of condoms and of course,denial,denial,denial.....

lack of education about HIV is a big contributer,
and the churches undermining the "safe sex" message over there
also a lot of poverty there, no money for health problems
