Are there any kids born without hiv/aids from infected mother living healthy lives? It is shown that if a woman takes her meds during pregnancy as she should, the baby has a greater chance of not having HIV when it is born. One-fourth to one-half of "Untreated" mothers will pass HIV on to the baby. Yes, it is possible. HIV transmission from the mother to child occurs during the pregnancy, labor/delivery and in breastfeeding. There is a drug that can be taken throughout pregnancy that makes it almost unlikely that the baby will get HIV. If the baby however did get HIV they can still for the most part lead a somewhat healthy life due to all the new drugs out there that delay or either stop the HIV from becoming AIDS. See the reason why so many children in Africa die from AIDS is because they do not have the drugs. Every year less people are dying from AIDS in the united states, due to the fact that if the HIV virus is caught early enough it can be prevented from turning into AIDS. I learned about this in Biochemistry. I am unsure of the details, but you can research it or ask a doctor if you were curious. |
