Why do people justify immigration from the Third World?

High levels of poverty and illiteracy, prejudices, tribalism, communal societies, excessive religious fervor, high rates of HIV, hepatitis, ebola, bilharzia, cholera, etc., often malnourished, no job training skills, no ability to speak language, often bring over large families, often end up on welfare, often use immigration for bringing over several generations or distant relatives, completely different society that is undeveloped and non-industrial, etc. Wouldn't it be better to pick more suitable immigrants who accept the culture and want to live here and have something to offer? I'd rather see us send aid, peacekeeping troops and teachers to their country, etc.

we aren't third world immigrants to start off with and who came over in the past has nothing to do with now. we brought over Nazis, are you dying to have them start coming again? I don't think so Past is irrelevant.

To the person above me, money isn't everything. A lot of the people come here because of FREEDOM.

Americans are the only people on earth who take freedom for granted like that.

HAVING and immigration policy is better than not having, one like now. But "immigration policy" by definition means you have to havecontroll over who comes in. Immigration policy has to have a border wall as part of the new policy.

I don't believe money is the answer, it doesn't solve the problem. It only eases it for a little while.
Send people over to teach them how to grow their own food, build the homes, roads, and schools. Send teachers, DR. and Dentist who are willing to go, or (legally) bring people here , who are willing to return to their country, and train them.
Help them learn to take solve their problems in their country instead of bringing them here.

You are so rite on many points. the system was set up for those to work and get the american dream . not to be a bur-don on the tax payers. the welfare system should abolished/food stamps and any other liberal based free programs . if this was to happen our economy would stabilize and we all could see a nice savings account to retire on. then america would be a great place to live again without overpaying taxes that there not represented in congress.

On the one hand, I understand what you mean and I agree with you to a degree but on the other hand, I don't understand why you think immigrants who would really have something to offer (maybe you meant money and wealth?) would like to come to the U.S.? They do not have too many reasons to leave their homes. If you have a stable family background, good education and a good job all set up in your country, why would you leave? Of course, there can be reasons like you get married to a foreigner but regarding employment, why would a very educated and rich person leave everything behind? Some do but most don't.

To muerto: I don't know if you have ever lived outside the U.S. (I have) but I can tell you most immigrants do not think the U.S. gives so much freedom these days and they are very right about that. Go visit Denmark, Germany, the UK, France, Spain or any other countries. Don't you think those people have freedom? Freedom is a very abstract notion, I think you are an idealist, which is not a problem but what you think is not what most people think outside the U.S.
