Is cancer or any other fatal illness a reason to live or die?

One time I saw an Oprah show (lol) about a woman who got cancer and decided that this was why she should really start to live her life. I often feel unmotivated to really do anything worthwhile. Sometimes I think that if I got cancer, though it would devastate me physically, it could spark something inside me to actually live a worthwhile life.

Even if you're diagnosed with a fatal illness, you can never know for sure how you're going to die. You could die in a car accident before the disease gets a chance to tear at you inside and out.

I know I should start living now, because I could die next week or next year, and I want to die knowing my life was worth it. But despite this, I still feel invincible and immortal and procrastinate. If death was certainly in my future, I might actually have more fun.

If you found out you had cancer or HIV, how would that make you feel about life?

My question at the end has yet to be answered. How would you feel if you were diagnosed with a fatal illness? Would it motivate you or depress you?

if you have a fatal illness, you don't have a choice

You might "live" with cancer or "die" with cancer. The end result is likely to be the same - you will die, but the former brings great rewards and is an inspiration to others.

Death is certainly in all our futures. That is the one thing that all humans have in common - mortality.

I can't know how I would feel about life if I had a life-frightening illness until it happens. I just know how I would prefer to feel.

I don't know...I'm a hypochondriac so I dread becoming ill. If I were diagnosed with a terminal illness, I'd probably be too worried about leaving loved ones behind to fully enjoy the time I had left. I want my death to be quick and unexpected so that I just won't know what hit me.

there is a brilliant book written by a famous athlete Lance Armstrong
' Its not about the bike '
that book he talks about overcomming all that cancer he had. and it is supposed to be inspiring to cancer patients.

Your old enough to die the day your born.

Disease or no disease, I live life to the max as when I do die that's it. I'm just part of the cycle of life.

People always need some kind of an official sign that the curtains will close soon before they get around to really starting the show.

There is no reason

You must be younger that 30, Cakes. lol

Everybody goes through the doldrums (sh!t, what an old-fashioned word) where you're bored and uncertain and aimless. There's nothing wrong with that. But I'll tell you how to get out of it.

Do something extreme. Go whitewater rafting or sky-diving. Take a trip out of your comfort zone. Go and spend a day volunteering at a food bank or a soup kitchen. Take a course in Medieval Swordsmanship. Anything bizarre and out of the ordinary for you. It'll kick-start your mojo and get you doing things again.

I tried all those things. They never fail! And don't worry about wasting precious life. The time that we have is the time that we have. Enjoy it; don't make it feel like a burden.
Cheers.
