Have we forgotten and become jaded and/or complacent?

Yeah it's a little long, but it means something!
Tonight Logo and MTV will broadcast "Pedro" a show about the wonderful, but left us too soon, young man Pedro Zamora and his fight as one of the most visible people living with HIV at that time. Since his death, have you seen any real changes, advances, break through that have made or making a difference or have we allowed it to become too "everyday" common?

Thanks for the heads up. I don't recall this person. I do recall Ryan White and what he did to help alliviate the stigma. I also remember Sgt.Leonard Matlovich being on the cover of Time magazine and how horribly he was treated at the end of his life.

EDIT: Oh Ric, thank you so much for reminding me about something I'd forgotten. I blew off American Idol and watched this, five minutes into it and it all came back to me. So did what my friend George went through at the end of his life. How family, thinking they are doing the right thing, try to push people away. The whole stigma thing, it just eats at me because you don't want to get upset an already upset situation, but you want to punch out a few lights at the same time. It's reminders like this film that remind me how precious every human life is, and how we weave a web of love that can get knocked about but never be destroyed. Somebody had me a kleenex. I'm a mess.

I have lost most of my male Friends to this viscous disease in the 90's, I only wish they had made it until now where today's medicine has advanced to the point of making it possible to live a normal life without all the pain and agony I witnessed with them back then.

Now people with HIV can live with the disease as long as they use common sense & take care of them selves, it's no longer an instant death sentence like it was then. Look at Magic Johnson, perfect example of a person's life expectancy living with the virus.

The sad part is because of this, I think a lot of society has become a bit complacent.

I pray that I never become complacent. One thing I have seen is that ALOT of people are much more educated about HIV and AIDS and where it comes from. That it's not limited to the gay community and hopefully more people are practicing safe sex now than before.
