Has anyone got ideas for a 5 mins documentary on africans and HIV in London?

hello - i live and work in Johannesburg and know a lot about HIV in Southern Africa but I'm going to shoot a 5 mins documentary on Africans and HIV in London. Im stuck! I have very little knowledge about the subject and therefore can't find an interesting angle. Can anyone suggest an interesting storyline?

thanks!

How about investigating whether infected African ex-pats and emigres in London are trying to treat themselves with herbal remedies developed in (or imported from) Africa?

I mean "treat" both in the sense of trying to cure themselves naturopathically or traditionally, and in the sense of seeking physical comfort, by reducing the severity of their symptoms (probably in addition to mainstream medically treatments).

I know little about this problem, so for all I know, there may even be a quiet, thriving industry in naturopathic remedies for HIV and/or its symptoms. Or African emigres may be trying to grow gardens-full of African plants for their known or believed curative properties.

OTOH, does the UK let people already infected enter the country on any long-term visas? The UK does have a tax-funded health-care system, and someone diagnosed with an incurable, lengthy, and only-*expensively*-treated illness would not be considered an asset to the UK's economy and society, would they? I know that many other countries with public health-care systems are VERY strict about their visa requirements regarding health, so maybe Britain is, too.

Just rambling thoughts, here -- but I hope I've helped, anyway.

find the website of a local support group there and look at the different services they offer. pick one of the services to focus on and maybe that will get your started with an idea. perhaps it could be a documentary one one of the workers at the clinic who serves this group? that is a tough one.
