Scared for my mother...2 DUIs, Please Help :(?

I`m 16, & I am nearly in tears as i write this, because my mother got stopped for her second DUI. Now she`s talking about putting me in foster care, because she'll have to go to jail probably for 3 months and she feels like she just can't take care of me anymore...and I'm so scared. I have no friends, and my mom is all i have. no family, no father, no siblings or cousins, nothing. she didn`t go to court yet, but she`s going to get an attorney. I really hope she doesnt go to jail because i need her. She is not an alcoholic, she rarely drinks at home & this time she just made a big error in judgement. I know DUIs are terrible things, but I just don`t know what to do. What if she gets hurt in jail? What if she gets HIV? (i watched a lot of scary documenteries on prison and it says a high % of inmates have stds & aids). i will never be able to become a doctor like I dreamed to. i'll be eaten alive by the foster system. I can't live without her...I just can't. i almost feel suicidal.

she's a wonderful person, who emerged from a terrible childhood into a wonderful career as a nurse practitioner. before this happened, she was going to volunteer for abandoned animals. i know you think she deserves to be in jail, but i just don't see it that way. Even though she got one before, three years ago, I feel she learned her lesson. ;_;

You may not think she is an alchoholic, but she does have some problems if she is on her second DUI. Anyone these days who makes the choice to drink and drive has issues.

Is there a friend who's family you could live with for a while if she had to go to jail? If you have no family and no friends you could stay with, then they may have to put you in temporary foster care until your mom is responsible enough to take care of herself and you.

Suicids is not even an option so forget that. That is fear talking and not at all rational so let that one go.

You wil get through this and I hope that your Mom gets it together. She needs to see what a fantastic child she has in you and that she obviously did somehting right that may be incentive for her to get on the right track.

If she is going to be sentenced to jail, get yourself legally emancipated. Then you can live on your own as an adult while she's in the clink, and kinda take care of her house while she's away. Then, once she gets back out, you can go back to your normal life.

If she can get a descent lawer she can get out of jail time.

SHE'LL NEED TO PLEA GUILTY &MAKE A DEAL WITH THE COURT TO DO A REHAB OR GO TO AA'S BEFORE SHE GOS TO COURT & TAKE SOME ONE FROM AA''S WITH HER
.GO AHEAD & START A PROGRAM OF REHAB , AND BRING YOU & OTHER CARICTER WITNESS'S WITH HER TO SAY SHE DOSN'T DRINK ANY MORE ,GOOD LUCK
