Shouldn't our "generational mission" be something along the lines of stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS or hunger throughout the world? Instead, Algore is raking in HUGE profits from carbon credits..Wal Mart the latest idiots to buy into this.
Algore writes that we have a generational mission to save our planet. Yet in Bjorn Lomborg's new book "Cool it" the skeptical enviromentalist's guide to global warming,Lomborg systematically dismantles Gore鈥檚 argument that carbon dioxide (CO2) is the biggest threat facing mankind, and that humanity must focus all our attention on fighting it.
Let鈥檚 begin with Gore鈥檚 鈥済enerational mission.鈥?Why is it that virtually none of the thousands of generations of humans that have come and gone have had a 鈥渕ission?鈥?Well, it鈥檚 because we鈥檙e one of the first generations that hasn鈥檛 had to worry about our day-to-day survival. From the dawn of time right up into the 20th century, many if not most people lived in fear of starvation. We defeated hunger through economic growth. The planet now produces more food with fewer farmers than ever, and we have efficient transportation systems to get that food to distant markets. As Lomborg explains, spreading the sort of wealth that First World nations now enjoy to everybody would be the best way to deal with global climate change. And he shows that Gore鈥檚 pet topic, the Kyoto accord, would actually make the world poorer. Affluence of the people that think they are the elite of society. The mission is to get more power and stomp out conservatism making way for more of a communist model. What better way to do that then global warming which blames America first by making us responsible for the amount of heat coming from the sun.
More and more Im starting to realize the goal of liberals; to stomp out patriotism. If people stop loving this country, they will hand it over to liberals on a silver platter to reform it in their image. And what is the media doing about all this? HELPING THEM! AMEN!!! Report It
Yeah - Al Gore is a pompous, elitist, socialist idiot! Thank god he was never elected president What AMAZES me is how many people buy into his rants and raves. Al gore. With regards to the environment, he put together a piece of propaganda called "An Inconvenient truth" Although he may have been sincere with his attempts to bring attention to "Global Warming" the film is mostly propaganda. . why do I say this? Recently a court in England found 11 issues of his film were blatantly misrepresented.
See:
http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sh...
And although he insinuates that Global warming is a settled issue scientifically and "Virtually all scientists agree" It is not so. See the following links:
http://www.environmentaldefense.org/arti...

http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/sci...
You have to remember that Mr. Gore was trained as a lawyer. Lawyers argue a point of view and have no obligation to tell both sides of the story.
People like to say that he is the smartest man in American, but Take a look at his college grades:
http://crm114.com/algore/reportcard.html
The man received a noble prize for his film, but as the lawsuit reveals, when you remove his incorrect data, its mostly filler material. That is why we must be very diligent in our efforts to be sure the right person is elected president of this country in '08!
This election is one of great importance.
We don't need Al Gores scare tactics. Many other scientist of great renown refute his claims of "Global Warming" man made or otherwise.
These are just part and parcel of what the liberal community is doing to tear this country apart both in the economy and morally!
Birth control pills are not meant for 11 year old girls. When will they learn that mentoring children and being good parents works?
. Al Gore is on a mission to fleece the tree hugging liberals of any and all money they may have, and to compel said tree hugging liberals into forcing the rest of America to participate in the fleecing through legislation.... Global warming is a shadow issue, to convince people that they NEED big government and its control.
The goal is simply socialism, world wide socialism, of course with socialism comes poverty and death to those people who resist it.
Ultimately, those that control power will be the wealthy elites who will not be subject to the socialism, much like the Goracle is now. The only difference will be that the new wealthy elites will derive their wealth and power from the government with no connection to the wealth creating entrepreneurs which have fueled the great wealth of the last century. To boldly go where no man has gone before...
No really to be the pied piper for the those lacking
critical thinking skills into the largest scam in world
history. The consequences of his futile efforts
will have grave effects on economies around the
world.
We could eliminate 2 million tons of co2 every
year if we got as much of our power from nuke
power as they do in France, so why isn't he touting
doing that! He knows now is the time to manipulate Liberals, (it's working because he won the Nobel Peace Prize on a lie) the majority politically, in USA in order to make a name for himself in history, and erase his failure as a Vice president, and a candidate for president. Now is the time, because Hellary is so popular in the polls, and a Socialist like himself. Look at his history man! Has he ever done anything that wasn't selfish, and based on party line? Remember his casting the deciding vote to raise the taxes on Social Security in the Senate, as Vice President? Senator's voted to raise their own income that year, too. Mmmmm, it doesn't look like OUR money went to Social Security, it went into the pockets of the Senate! what gets me is, when he was VP, he sold our Navy's reserve fuel to a company with the lowest bid. One he has stock in.
And he says he isnt an oil man The carbon credit is a joke and a way for the wealthy like Gore to gain even more wealth at the expense of people who buy into the latest fling on TV and the movies.
I like your idea that our real mission should be combating AIDS or the helping those in poverty in third world countries. i like the idea already presented that GW is just another way to make people feel they need regulation.
Wal-Mart? More back scratching & nothing more. Personally I used to really like him. Somebody had to break out the news that climate change is real. I do like his Current Tv efforts, especially the Neo nazi youth in Russia piece.
What I do find disturbing is the research that he perhaps was as domineering in the White House years as was Hilary. For the Love of Politics by Sally Bedell Smith. Also abusive to staff. Keeps his mansion in downtown Tennessee? A new luxury condo in LA? His son has somehow felt let down?
Worse. I read he was willing to fill in Hillary's shoes should she be removed from the Democratic ticket. Like when the campaign ethics & finance boards landslide the candidate with violations after she passes the primary? I do not want AL Gore any MORE. Thanks. As a Dem, I am extremely disappointed in VP Gore. He needs to get a grip.
I Cr 13;8a Al had a nervous breakdown when he lost the election. He is still trying to gain some sort of notoriety. He's a desperate, sick man. His aim is to rouse people from the seeming stupor they've been in for almost eight years and to inspire them to finally do something about what is happening to their country. Even though the book does afford him to chance to eviscerate his political opponent, I firmly believe that Gore is a concerned citizen sounding the alarm for his fellow citizens, plenty of whom seem to have fallen into a state of utter and dangerous complacency in the face of some of the worst civil and human rights violations this country has ever witnessed. As Gore argues with both vehemence and eloquence, how can the U.S. lay claim to moral authority when the leader of our country and his closest advisors trounce all over the Constitution and the Geneva Convention at will? How can anyone not fear the disregard for the will of the people, the deception, and the failures displayed by this current administration?
As Gore points out, the U.S. came into being because a group of idealists decided they wanted to live in a nation whose leader was elected by the people, who was accountable to the people, and whose power would be checked by that of the other two branches. The entire basis of our form of government is built around the philosophy that no leader should possess absolute power and that no leader should be able to act with impunity. George W. Bush has taken that philosophy and ground it into the dirt with his heel. By bowing to special interests and ignoring the needs and wants of his constituents, by outright lying to his constitutents in order to instigate a war that he wanted even though it was not necessary to the security of this country, and by committing what are essentially war crimes by sanctioning the torture of prisoners and stripping them of due process, Bush has made a mockery of everything for which America stands. It is easy to sometimes chalk the flaws of the American political system up to partisanship but Bush doesn't even care what those members of his own party think, as evidenced by his disregard for the anti-torture legislation drafted by his fellow Republicans. I'm not a liberal. And I think Al Gore is doing the right thing. If I read all the facts correctly, his REAL mission is to make sure his grandchildren can breathe outdoors without wearing respirators and Sunblock with a SPF of 800, not to mention to be able to drink water from the tap, which doesn't have chunks of soot in it. It's to stop the spread of acid rain so we can maintain our topsoil and continue to grow food in our own nation. It's to expose the powers behind making us all continue to pollute the air, soil and water for the profit of a very elite few.
"Why is that virtually none of the thousands of generations of humans that have come and gone have had a "mission"?
For one, this is the first and second generation of humans which have had personal automobiles, inefficiently converting barely refined hydrocarbon liquids into soot, particulates and CO2 by the BILLION of GALLONS a day. You might keep in mind people have only been FARMING for the last 600 or so generations. The industrial Age is barely 150 years old. That's just three generations (two if you go by an average lifespan of 76 years). Hunter/gatherers' notion of polluting the environment was taking a dump in the middle of their cave.
Secondly, this is the first generation which has had the scientific MEANS to see what effect its wasteful presence has on its environment. Feudal serfs in egrarian England had no concept of water pollution in Japan, as it was information which neither concerned them, nor was it something they had access to, even if it DID interest them. You talk about their need to worry about day to day survival, but this has not been a concern for the species since the great flu epidemics. While thousands may die daily, TENS of thousands are being born. It wasn't until information-sharing (communication) technology was globally developed, (once we stopped watching football matches), we used the medium to inform as well as warn.
There are only two legitimate points defending the Anti Global Warming crowd, I have been able to find:
1. When we first started placing thermometers to measure how warm the planet is, we installed them in very remote rural areas. Now, 80 years or whatever later, those areas have homes, streets, buildings, asphalt parking lots, etc., and it IS a scientific fact that cities are warmer than rural areas; and
2. When we first developed the technology to determine the condition of the ozone layer surrounding the Earth, a sizable hole (but much smaller than it is now) over the South Pole already existed. No one can say for certain whether or not we haven't ALWAYS had a hole in our ozone layer (we can INFER there wasn't always a hole, as increased global skin cancer rates supports, but inferrence is all we have).
Thirdly, never before in the recorded history of the planet has a species been so dedicated to befouling its own home in the name of Profit. If we don't force those, who would force US to kill our very old and very young, who force them to choke to death on their own atmosphere (too polluted to BREATHE on hot days), force those in power to support developing technologies which will NOT consign our children and grandchildren to short lives, dying of lung diseases MUCH worse than coal miners' Black Lung, we will have no one to blame but ourselves. But it will take EVERYONE to make it stick, not JUST the ones who aren't afraid of Big Business so much, they'll stand up to them and demand a better way.
Zero harmful emissions for POVs. ZERO. Burn it all or convert to a fuel which WILL burn effectively and completely. Why is this such a HORRIBLE proposition? Because it forces car manufacturers to spend some of their billions on REAL R&D?
Because it forces the American people (a people who love their cars like no other people on the planet- of course, we love our guns too, but I can't decide which is deadlier) to confront the facts surrounding the internal combustion engine, a technology which has been obsolete for close to 60 years and which is not only killing US, but hundreds of species of insect and plant life as well?
Is it reasonable that a Republican Senator suggested adding even MORE pollution to the atmosphere, in a effort to combat Global Warming? Why is it, Exxon posted a check for $10,000, payable to any scientist who could refute Global Warming or man's contributions to its acceleration, over two years ago, and they STILL HAVE THE CHECK?
I prefer to get my science from climatologists and meteorologists, not Senators with HS edumacations or authors with a vested interested in maintaining the status quo.
It's either that, or seriously, tradmark the name "Perri-Air" and start canning pure O2, like Mel Brooks did in "Spaceballs".
There's gonna be a demand for that product in the next 30 years, if we keep going the way we are. |
